Beyond the Surface
Water an essential source of life, vital to the good health and well being of all.
Most of us take clean water for granted; we turn on our taps and drink our fill without a thought to our safety. But what happens in communities where the tap water is highly contaminated?
Countless communities around the world have some semblance of municipal water infrastructure in place, which is categorized as improved water supply, yet they still struggle with a very high incidence of water-related illness. In such communities, bottled water may be sold as an alternative to contaminated tap water, but it is often beyond the economic reach of many communities' poorest residents. This film examines this segment of the world's population that seems to be widely overlooked and underserved: those who have contaminated tap water and lack the resources to purchase bottled water at market prices.
Beyond the Surface is slated for completion in late 2009 and release in the spring of 2010.
